Jardin d'Eyrignac: A jewel of Dordogne vegetation
Jardin d’Eyrignac : A jewel of vegetation in the Dordogne
The Gardens of Eyrignac, perched high in the Périgord Noir, are one of the finest botanical jewels in the Dordogne. Classified as a Remarkable Garden, they offer a unique immersion in the art of topiary and the refinement of French-style gardens. If you’re staying at our campsite in the Lot region, just 30 minutes away by car, a trip to Eyrignac is an enchanting break between nature, history and heritage. A must for lovers of carefully sculpted landscapes and botanical enthusiasts.

A masterpiece of topiary art in Périgord Noir
Spread over 10 hectares, the Jardins d’Eyrignac offer a masterly demonstration of the art of topiary, where yew, box, hornbeam and cypress are pruned with remarkable precision. Each bed, each hedge, each pathway reveals meticulous workmanship, shaped by the hand of man in keeping with French horticultural traditions.
The gardens are distinguished by a succession ofthemed areas:
- The Jardin à la Française: a symmetrical layout punctuated by plant sculptures and elegant perspectives.
- Le Jardin Blanc: an oasis of freshness where white flowers and silver foliage create a soothing atmosphere.
- The Vegetable and Flower Garden: where vegetables and flowers intertwine in an explosion of colors and scents.
- The Ponds and Water Garden: shimmering reflections and the interplay of light and shadow give this space a unique poetic touch.
Each trail invites contemplation, offering exceptional panoramas of the verdant valleys of the Périgord Noir.
A family heritage handed down from generation to generation
Les Jardins d’Eyrignac is much more than a showcase for plants: it reflects a family history that has been passed down through 22 generations. The estate has belonged to the de Saint-Vincent family for several centuries, and has retained all its authenticity.
Created in the XVIIIᵉ century in the pure style of French gardens, they were transformed into English landscape parks in the XIXᵉ century, before being restored to their original spirit from the 1960s onwards. This return to its roots has restored this architectural plant ensemble to its full splendor, inspired by the classical principles of the French garden.
Far from being stuck in the past, the Jardins d’Eyrignac are constantly evolving, incorporating environmentally-friendly practices and promoting sustainable management of green spaces.
An immersive experience for the whole family
Eyrignac is not just a place for contemplation, it’s also a lively, interactive space where young and old can enjoy themselves. The site offers a wide range of activities and themed tours, tailored to the needs of families:

- Guided tours: to discover the secrets of cutting techniques and understand the history of the site.
